((An anonymous person uploaded a several pages of individual characteristic descriptions of the main roles for NWJ from the original synopsis on DC, not long after NWJ has started airing.
The original synopsis had originally won a script award years back.
The story in the original synopsis appears to be the reason why Yunho wanted to do it for the character MooSeok seems to be very attractive even from the short text.
One can see some details in the story have been changed in the actual drama.
Below are the original descriptions of the character, MooSeok.))
***MooSeok ( 24 yrs old, male)***
A warrior with a beautiful face but so principled.
Night watchman # 2
He is a warrior who is so loyal to the bone.
He was born in a family of warriors that protected against the north for generations.
When he was young, his father was killed mercilessly by a night watchman that was changed/ altered by a monster serpent.
Therefore, he has animosity toward the night watchmen.
Thanks to his inborn talent of martial arts, he became the top military policeman before he reached 20 years old.
He possesses deeds of arms that can put not only thieves but also ghosts to the sword.
His model student tendency and strict military upbringing combined, he lacks flexibility because he is so principled.
He thoroughly follows the thought of loyalty and filial piety, and sexual discrimination.
Even though he is a warrior to the bone, his looks are more beautiful than women’s.
However, he is a male chauvinist and he is not interested in women.
He has never loved a woman before and he thinks love is unimportant, and he is impenetrable.
And then he met DoHa and became a night watchman he used to oppose.
MooSeok’s weapon is SaIn gum that is known to be used for chasing ghosts.
SaIn gum is four tiger’s sword that was produced by a master sword craftsman precisely on tiger’s hour, day, month and year.
In the night watchmen’s history, Seol TaeJoo, DoHa’s father, and MooSeok are the only ones that could handle / deal with the SaIn gum quite freely.
Ironically though, Seol TaeJoo is the enemy who killed MooSeok’s father.
After getting hold of the SaIn gum which once belonged to his enemy, MooSeok is more intent on practicing martial arts/ swordsmanship.
MooSeok helps DoHa as a result of reacting against InOh’s bullying her.
( ***InOh became Yi Rin’s character later on…)
Absolutely there is no personal emotions attached.
It is just due to the unfairness against the weak.
But MooSeok goes through a crisis with DoHa…
After escaping death thanks to DoHa, he ends up feeling love that is similar to a shock / a strong impact.
At first, he was surprised by these emotions.
He couldn’t even take a look at DoHa and became more abrupt.
Was it because she is the daughter of his enemy that killed his father?
It was because he didn’t know what to do.
This impenetrable man even consults CheolJu, who is reckless, about love.
Thus MooSeok keeps an eye out for and helps DoHa.
Watching DoHa doing her best in enduring hardships, he throws off his feelings of prejudice and discrimination against women.
Gradually, his principled & model student like stiffness softens.
When he finds out InOh loves DoHa, he comes into conflict with InOh.
InOh and MooSeok are completely different in everything including characteristics.
MooSeok who wants to keep loyalty toward YeonSan gun ( the king) and InOh who dreams of a whole new world and treason.
InOh who rushes recklessly toward DoHa and MooSeok who wants to protect and defend DoHa.
InOh and MooSeok are in a team but they keep having conflicts and take issue with each other within.
However, MooSeok kept JinSeong Daegun (another king) from a crisis and experienced the irony of fate by becoming the # 1 contributor for the rebel forces.
After he finds out DoHa is in love with InOh, he tries to protect DoHa in secret.
He possesses the heart of a vulnerable boy when it comes to love even though he is a warrior who is more lionhearted than anybody else.
