Amidst a situation where in the popularity of the Korean wave within Japan is faltering, TVXQ is boasting of its 10th year unchanging popularity while displaying their unrivalled performance in Japan.
On 13 January, through its official Japanese website, TVXQ released a notice that the sale of "limited view" seats fot TVXQ's 2015 Japanese 5-Dome tour "Tohoshinki Live Tour 2015 ~WITH~" has started.
Although "limited view" seats are seats for which viewing of a part of the performance on stage is difficult to be seen or cannot be seen at all, as a reflection of the opinions of the fans who wish to watch TVXQ's concert, the sale of the said seats has been specially added.
Although this does not come as any huge surprise given that TVXQ sells 'limited view' seats every tour, considering the fact that TVXQ is maintaining their popularity in Japan without being affected by the Korean wave popularity, unlike the Korean wave stars whose rate of ticketing sales have dulled through the stagnation of the Korean wave, the significance (of this feat of selling additional "limited view" tickets) is deep.
After the raising of foreign diplomatic issues such as the rights of possession over Dokdo Island by the Japanese media in 2012, the proliferation of K-Pop has become limited. The broadcasts which the new songs of Korean wave stars such as Kara, TVXQ and Big Bang who are enjoying popularity in Japan which rivals that of local Japanese singers,a are able to be introduced, are not music programs but only to the extent of information programs.
A Japanese entertainment industry personnel said, "During the past 3- years, the broadcast stations battled it out to broadcast K-Pop stars and Korean Dramas, and due to that, the number of Korean wave fans rapidly increased. However, due to the anti-Korean artistes drastically decreased and the Korean wave fans also disappeared naturally. Curently, it is a situation whereby only the original Korean Wave fans remain. Recently, the Dome concert of a popular idol group held recently saw it happening with only 2/3 of the seats filled, and yet another group only filled about half of the seats at one of the regional concerts."
Many idol groups enjoying huge popularity in Japan currently are conducting activities as K-Pop singers who ride on the Korean wave. In contrast, from 2004, because TVXQ went on a localisation route instead of the Korean wave, they are a group which more familiar with the Japanese public as "Tohoshinki" rather than "Dong Bang Shin Ki" (Korean pronounciation) because of that, TVXQ is not limited to only "Korean wave fans", but is receiving national love.
For every album which TVXQ releases, the sales record more that 100,000 copies, while their concert tours are setting records and ticket sale precendents. In addition, their new album 'WITH' which went on sale recently sold 160,000 copies on the firts day of sale without any appearances on music programs, flauting their majestic power of rising to 1st place on the Oricon monthly charts and provinf their unchanging popularity locally.
TVXQ's tour this time around will see its start through the concert at Fukuoka'a Yafuoku Dome on 6 Feb, and is scheduled to unfold through a total 16 concerts at Japan's 5 big Domes at Tokyo, Sapporo, Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka etc. The interest in the 2015 Japanes 5-Dome tour of TVXQ, who welcom their 10th anniversary since debut in Japan, is anticipated to be even hotter.
