[TRANS] 141223 Tohoshinki – (with their) Latest Album「WITH」, (became) the First Overseas Group in History to have 4 Consecutive No.1 with their Original Albums

A Korean artist, Tohoshinki and their latest album 「WITH」, which went on sale on 12/17, has sold more than 233k copies in its first week, securing the top spot in its first appearance on ORICON Weekly Album Sales Ranking for the week of 12/29.

Speaking of being No. 1 in ORICON Album Sales ranking, following their Best Album 「BEST SELECTION 2010」(FEB2010),「TONE」 (SEP2011), 「TIME」(MAR2013), 「TREE」(MAR2014), 「WITH」 is their 5th album to make it to the top of the chart. It’s also their 4th consecutive original album that topped the chart, renewing the earlier record held by Bon Jovi for about 5 years and 1 month (who was previously the only foreign artist in Japan to have 3 albums consecutively topping the ORICON chart following the release of their album 「The Circle」 on 2009.11.16), as the first and only overseas group in history to have the most original albums consecutively topping the ORICON Album Sales ranking chart. All in all, with a total of 5 albums topping the ORICON Album Sales ranking chart, Tohoshinki has also became the overseas group that tied the record alongside with Simon & Garfunkel and Bon Jovi, to have the most No. 1 on the ORICON chart.

This time the album 「WITH」, it can be said as a compilation of the year 2014, alongside with the album concept of 「The thought of wanting to meet (with you) has becomes stronger when we are not able to meet」. The essence of such thought from Tohoshinki, are expressed throughout the 14 songs included in this new album.

Further, Tohoshinki with their latest single 「Time Works Wonders」that was released on 5th of November 2014, has renewed the record as the most single sales in history, the most number of No.1, the most number of times it was listed on the Top 10 chart and highest first week sales by an overseas artist (in Japan). In addition, they are the overseas artist that has mobilised the most people within the shortest span of time in history via their nationwide tour in 2014. In total, they have mobilised more than 2 million people within a span of 3 years (t/n: for their nationwide tour in Japan). 2014 indeed is a year with many records made (by Tohoshinki in Japan).

Very soon, Tohoshinki will be releasing another new single named 「SAKURAMICHI」(T/N: “The Cherry Blossom Road” or “The Path of Cherry Blossom”), on 25 February next year. The production of this new single, combined with their gentle yet strong vocal, is a present from Tohoshinki to people who are about to move on in a new path/direction, who are feeling hopeful and uneasy at the same time. It has also been confirmed that 「SAKURAMICHI」will be the main theme song for the evening drama 「花嫁のれん」(Hanayome Noren – Season 4), which will begin broadcast on Tokai TV & Fuji TV nationwide network from 5th January 2015 (Monday), 1:30 PM JST onwards. 「SAKURAMICHI」 as the main theme song will be played for the first ime during the intial broadcast.
